YOU CAN HELP!
Much more is needed!  The 107 year old building needs a new plumbing system, additional track lighting fixtures, opening up the baggage area and removing an elevated floor section, restoring bathrooms with period fixtures, adding an ADA accessible bathroom, a new floor, restoring original trackside doors, and restoring the roof to its original tile.

The cost to restore the depot is estimated to be $330,000.

"The goal is to completely restore the depot and turn it into  a railroad museum, exclusively." said fundraising chair Bob Wagner. "We also have a grand plan for the rest of the grounds, including making the caboose and derrick ADA accessible, building a beautiful courtyard that will be a shrine to Nampa's railroad workers, and finally, a new museum building alongside the depot that will house exhibits on Canyon County's rich history, artifact storage, and offices.  It will, ultimately, be a downtown attraction that will make all of Canyon County proud."

Total estimated cost of the entire depot - museum project: $500,000.

On May 20th, 2010, The Canyon County Historical Society, in partnership with The National Trust for Historic Preservation, kicked off a capital campaign to preserve and restore the unique and beautiful 1903 Nampa Train Depot.  The Nampa Depot is the only depot in southwest Idaho that has not been fully restored.

This multi-stage, five year project will completely restore the depot to its original glory!

Speakers at the kickoff included Nampa Mayor Tom Dale, Canyon County Commissioner David Ferdinand, National Trust for Historic Preservation Western Office Director Anthea Hartig, National Trust for Historic Preservation Trustee Kevin Daniels, CCHS Director Wendy Miller, and CCHS Vice President Mike Gable.

Original donors included The National Trust for Historic Preservation, Kevin Daniels, Nampa Bingo, and a Union Pacific Railroad Family.

Over $35,000 has been raised so far.

The entire  electrical system has been updated and brought up to code.  New reproduction lighting fixtures have been installed, the metal duct work has been moved into the attic, and the ceilings have been repaired and repainted.
